Uthukottai(Tamil: ஊத்துக்கோட்டை) is a border town in Tamil Nadu next to Andra Pradesh, on the banks of the Arani river. It has a channel which helps channel water from the Krishna river to Tamil Nadu.
The Uthukottai name is a portmanteau of two Tamil words - Uthu and Kottai. Uthu means water coming from earth and Kottai represents the Muslim Zamindars Kottai located in that place.
